Om, Victory to Mother Ambe! --- THE AARTI VERSES 1. माँग सिन्दूर बिराजत, टीको मृगमद को। उज्ज्वल से दोउ नैना, चन्द्रबदन नीको॥ Mang Sindur Birajat, Tiko Mrigmad Ko। Ujjwal Se Dou Naina, Chandrabadan Niko॥ Meaning: Your parting of hair is adorned with bright red vermilion (Sindoor), and your forehead is decorated with a mark of musk (Kasturi). You possess two bright, radiant eyes, and your face is as beautiful as the glowing moon. 2. कनक समान कलेवर, रक्ताम्बर राजै। रक्तपुष्प गल माला, कण्ठन पर साजै॥ Kanak Saman Kalevar, Raktambar Rajai। Raktpushp Gal Mala, Kanthan Par Sajai॥ Meaning: Your divine body shines brilliantly like pure gold, and you are elegantly dressed in red garments. A beautiful garland of bright red flowers adorns your neck. 3. केहरि वाहन राजत, खड्ग खप्पर धारी। सुर-नर-मुनिजन सेवत, तिनके दुखहारी॥ Kehari Vahan Rajat, Khadg Khappar Dhari। Sur-Nar-Munijan Sevat, Tinke Dukhahari॥ Meaning: You ride majestically on a fierce lion, holding a sword and a skull bowl in your hands. Gods, men, and holy sages serve you constantly, as you are the destroyer of all their sorrows. 4. कानन कुण्डल शोभित, नासाग्रे मोती। कोटिक चन्द्र दिवाकर, राजत सम ज्योती॥ Kanan Kundal Shobhit, Nasagre Moti। Kotik Chandra Divakar, Rajat Sam Jyoti॥ Meaning: Your ears are adorned with beautiful rings, and a pearl shines on the tip of your nose. Your radiant splendor is equal to the combined light of millions of suns and moons. 5. शुम्भ निशुम्भ बिदारे, महिषासुर घाती। धूम्र विलोचन नैना, निशदिन मदमाती॥ Shumbh Nishumbh Bidare, Mahishasur Ghati। Dhumr Vilochan Naina, Nishdin Madmati॥ Meaning: You tore apart the terrible demons Shumbh and Nishumbh, and you are the slayer of the great buffalo demon, Mahishasur. Your eyes are slightly red (smoky), filled with the divine intoxication of supreme power. 6. चण्ड मुण्ड संहारे, शोणित बीज हरे। मधु कैटभ दोउ मारे, सुर भयहीन करे॥ Chand Mund Sanhare, Shonit Beej Hare। Madhu Kaitabh Dou Mare, Sur Bhayheen Kare॥ Meaning: You destroyed the fierce demons Chand and Mund, and defeated the invincible Raktabija (whose drops of blood created clones). You killed the demons Madhu and Kaitabh, thus making the Gods completely free from fear. 7. ब्रह्माणी रुद्राणी, तुम कमला रानी। आगम निगम बखानी, तुम शिव पटरानी॥ Brahmani Rudrani, Tum Kamala Rani। Aagam Nigam Bakhani, Tum Shiv Patrani॥ Meaning: You are Brahmani (Saraswati), Rudrani (Parvati), and the lotus-queen Kamala (Lakshmi). The sacred scriptures (Vedas and Agamas) describe your glory, and you are the supreme consort of Lord Shiva. 8. चौंसठ योगिनी मंगल गावत, नृत्य करत भैरूँ। बाजत ताल मृदंगा, अरु बाजत डमरू॥ Chaunsath Yogini Mangal Gavat, Nritya Karat Bhairu। Bajat Taal Mridanga, Aru Bajat Damaru॥ Meaning: The sixty-four divine Yoginis sing auspicious songs in your praise, and Lord Bhairava dances in joy. The rhythmic sounds of the Mridangam (drum) and Lord Shiva's Damaru echo around you. 9. तुम ही जग की माता, तुम ही हो भर्ता। भक्तन की दुख हरता, सुख सम्पति करता॥ Tum Hi Jag Ki Mata, Tum Hi Ho Bharta। Bhaktan Ki Dukh Harta, Sukh Sampati Karta॥ Meaning: You are the universal Mother of the entire world, and you are also its sustainer and protector. You take away the sorrows of your devotees and grant them boundless happiness and prosperity. 10. भुजा चार अति शोभित, वर मुद्रा धारी। मनवांछित फल पावत, सेवत नर नारी॥ Bhuja Char Ati Shobhit, Var Mudra Dhari। Manvanchhit Phal Pavat, Sevat Nar Nari॥ Meaning: Your four arms are extremely magnificent, and you hold your hands in the 'Varada Mudra' (the gesture of granting boons). Men and women who serve and worship you obtain the fruits of their heart's deepest desires. 11. कंचन थाल विराजत, अगर कपूर बाती। श्रीमालकेतु में राजत, कोटि रतन ज्योती॥ Kanchan Thal Virajat, Agar Kapur Bati। Shrimalaketu Mein Rajat, Koti Ratan Jyoti॥ Meaning: A golden plate shines in your worship, containing burning incense and camphor.
